Goodbye Dad

The world lost my Dad today. The world knew him as Frank Miley but I knew him as Dad.Frank Miley

You never expect to loose your parent and I certainly didn’t expect it now. At sixty-six, it’s just too soon. We weren’t done learning from him. We weren’t finished laughing with him. We weren’t ready to see him go. Yet, it was his time and he went in a way that eased the process for those around him.

I will miss him and I’ll always love him. Goodbye Dad! Thanks for a lifetime of memories

- your little boy

How did it get so late so soon?
It’s night before it’s afternoon.
December is here before it’s June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?

Mike and all of Frank’s family:

We are sorry for your loss. Frank sounds much like our Dads.
Dad Dorcey died 20 months ago.
There isn’t a day that goes by without at least one memory.
Keep and cherish thos memories and Frank will stay with you forever.

Steve Jobs reportedly said that the hard part about children is that they carry your heart around with them. So I’ll say that the hard part about parents is that they carry around the ground under your feet: When they go you are so off-balance, for a long time. Friends and family will hold you up as you get used to the new reality. Good bless.

    Mike,
We’ve never met but looking at your picture makes me think I know you. I grew up (7 years younger) on the same block as your Dad. Here is something I left for his sister Nel. Hope it gives you some context on what he meant to me.
Nel, Sad, sad news. When I heard my mind went to July, 1969 sitting in Frank’s living room in Northbrook . . . watching man’s first steps on the moon on TV. Frank, like all of your family, always made me feel welcome in their lives. What a gift and what a loss! This quality of making others feel welcomed is something the world needs more of. Thinking of all the Mileys and wishing you well and comfort as you remember Frank.

    Godspeed to Frank.

    Mike,

Thanks for the beautiful tribute on You Tube. As I mentioned to Nel, seeing the roses took my back 45 years to when your Dad’s Dad raised roses . . . a Miley trademark. Hope you and all the family are finding comfort in the memories, as I did.
